CASE recently installed Lexan Call Boxes along the Alex Fraser Bridge in British Columbia as part of the Province’s larger effort to help provide support to those suffering from a mental or emotional health crisis. Over the last five years the Delta Police Department has responded to 30 incidents on the bridge. “These phones will serve as an additional layer of support for those in crisis to reach out to someone.” said Delta Police Chief Neil Dubord.
The call boxes link directly to either the Fraser Health Crisis Line or the Vancouver Distress Line for emotional support. The 8,000ft long bridge which crosses the Fraser River now has six call boxes at various points to offer immediate assistance in the event an individual experiences a safety or well-being need.
