The 3G Era is Ending. Be Ready for 4G.
Keep Your Emergency Communications Systems On-line with CASE
There are a lot of benefits that come with advancements and improvements in technology. There are also some challenges when transitioning from what’s existing to whatever is latest and greatest.
The 3G Sunset is exactly this kind of situation.
As 4G LTE becomes the new standard for wireless communication technology, 3G is being phased out. 3G cell towers are being deactivated and 4G towers installed in their place. That means any devices without 4G capabilities will lose their signal and ability to connect. Some carriers like Verizon plan to shut down their entire 3G network by the end of 2019. And while you could try switching to another provider, all other major carriers – including AT&T are actively switching to 4G as well, with 3G networks shutting down completely within a few years.
Why The Switch?
As stated before, 4G LTE has many advantages 3G networks simply cannot provide.
- Better call stability and clarity
- Enhanced audio quality
- Video chat and monitoring
What Do I Do Now?
If you’re operating an emergency phone or emergency call box system that relies on 3G radios, those units will be unable to make calls from locations where 3G has been deactivated.
But don’t worry. As always, CASE has you covered.
We knew that 3G would eventually become obsolete, so we created all our emergency communications equipment to be 4G ready, so that when the time to switch came, it’d be quick, easy, and stress-free for CASE clients.
If you already have CASE equipment, simply ask us to install a 4G Cellular Radio Upgrade Kit. This 4G optimized data and voice module has been network certified by Verizon, and besides working on CASE equipment can also be installed on Code Blue, Talkaphone, and Gai-Tronics units. The CASE 4G Cellular Radio Upgrade Kit can also enhance traditional landline systems by adding 4G wireless capability.
Please make sure to order your CASE 4G Cellular Radio Upgrade Kit by April 30, 2019 to allow ample time to schedule your upgrade installation before the 3G sunset.
